Something in his heart died for this lonely girl, and Matty reached up and tried to brush away one of her tears, but they flew fast, so instead, he said, "There's no shame in crying. Everyone needs a good cry every now and then, and sometimes we forget that." He took one of her hands between his and said nothing for a solid minute before saying softly, "how could I be disgusted if I didn't KNOW you? It's wrong to judge, and I now know you are a wonderful, amazing, insightful person." It felt amazing to do something good for this girl who needed and deserved it. Matty smiled to himself with a feeling of accomplishment.

A faint smile danced across her lips as she looked at the boy and felt his rather warm hand on hers. She squeezed a little. "Thank you." It was barely audible but it hung there on the little space between them. "You truely are a kind person." She sniffed a little and the tears slowed until they stopped all together. She began wiping away the evidence of her unstableness for that moment and as she did it she thought about what Matty had said. "There's no shame in crying. Everyone needs a good cry every now and then, and sometimes we forget that." Anya stopped wiping all together. So, maybe her earlier thoughts of possibly finding a friend at this new school wasn't so stupid after all. This boy was so compassionate, much more compassionate than anyone she'd ever met. Maybe there were more like him here? She didn't try to get her hopes up and instead basked in the glory of the thought that she had a friend standing in front of her. And the little twinkling diamonds up above-- or maybe it was the Goddess herself-- made her lean down a tiny bit and peck him on the cheek gratefully. It wasn't a romantic thing, just a 'thank you' type thing. She touseled his hair and smiled.

Matty froze for a second, not sure how to react, but then relaxed and gave a grin up at Anya. He had a new friend. He knew she was feeling better because her thoughts became lighter. The two stood for a moment...
"Would you like to stay out here, or would you like to go back to your dorm? I'm sure you came out here for a reason, so if you want to stay here a while longer, that's fine, but I'll walk you if you want to go back," offered Matty, finally realizing he was breaking school rules. Funny, the thought. I don't feel bad or anything.

Anya smiled, opening up the little tab she had in the back of her mind that was keeping track of the stars. She didn't feel that burning urge to stay outside with them anymore--though, pretty much certain it would come back tomorrow night-- so she shrugged. "Zhat vould be nice actually." She finally took in what the two of them were wearing: baggy silk pajamas with a single sweater and cheetah spot slippers and boxer shorts, and undershirt, and a borrowed sweater. She giggled a little. "You don't have to valk me back, I'm sure you're frozen solid as is." A littler, slightly startling, though popped up. She frowned a little. "Am I going to see you at all? Vhat grade are you in?" She questioned. Her eyebrows nitted together at the thought of not seeing him again soon.

Matty was a little surprised as Anya had been, but he got over it. "I'm a sophomore," he replied, with a shrug, not noticing the cold. He looked at the sky, wondering how late it was, and took off the sweater. He no longer needed the warmth-- he got used to the air and the darkness. It really was nice out when all the minor disagreements were settled. He handed the sweater back to her and took a deep breath of the fresh air. "Just make sure you don't get caught for sneaking around after hours," he warned. "I don't want to hear that you got in trouble, okay?" It didn't feel right to say she shouldn't, because it was obvious this girl had a natural affinity with the night. "And feel free to track me down any time you need to talk, alright?" Funny, this feels like some kind of final goodbye.

Anya nodded as he insisted in tracking him down if she were ever in the need of an ear. "He makes it sound like I von't see him..." She smiled. "Vell, ve're in zhe same grade so maybe I'll see you tomorrow? or soon atleast?" She shrugged. As he handed back her sweater she dimissed it. "Keep it. It's my thank you." Her smile grew to show most of her teeth. As their little get-together said its final farewells she could feel the excitement and happiness swelling in her chest.

Matty wasn't quite sure what to do with a girls' sweater, but Anya sounded like she had her mind made up, so he simply nodded and draped it over one arm.
"Right," he responded to the possibility of seeing each other again. "Yeah, we'll see each other again. I hope so." He smiled back, warmly. "See you soon... Anya," he added as an afterthought, and took a hesitant step back. And when we do, I will be wearing more than underwear, he cautioned himself. "Well... cya, I guess," he said, unsure if he should leave. He looked around and sort of slouched and started to walk, as if he could blend into the night as his new friend did. He stifled a yawn and was a little startled by the trail of water vapor trailing in front of his face.

Anya called to her new friend as he warily trudged back to his dorm, "Good night!" She said it quietly as to not wake anyone. She walked back to her own dorm but with more stealth and skill than Matty. She knew how to blend and stay hidden, and not just from being the outcast that she was, it was on a super natural level as well. The night and the shadow was her friend, it welcomed her with misty, dark arms that wrapped themselves around her and concealed her. Keeping her footsteps light and hasty she moved quickly to the door, opening it a crack, enough so she could slip in and closed it carefully behind her. She stepped quietly near the wall side of the stairs going up to her level and slipped into her room without being seen by anyone. She sighed and laied herself in bed, wrapping up in the covers and quilts. And then after that, she fell asleep quickly with a smile plastered onto her face. She sent a silent message to her mother. "I made a friend, I really did. I wish you could see me now..."
