Dawndrell sat at the edge of the fountain, absently dipping her hand in the cool, smooth water. A steady spray of misty water hit her back as the rushing water crashed into the pool. The sun was lowering in the sky, casting an orange glow around everything. Night would soon come.
François ran around the water along the fountain edge, jumping over Dawndrell after each lap.
"Golly," Dawndrell whispered aloud. "The sunset SURE is pretty, tonight..." Is it ALWAYS this pretty? Gosh, I wonder why I've never noticed. It makes me feel... so... WARM.
François finally lost her balance and crashed into the pool of water, sending a spray of water onto Dawndrell's lap. Her white capris were soaked. Gosh, I hope they're not see-through! She fished the kitten out of the water and lay her across the stone of the fountain to dry. François shook herself off like a dog, sending even more water cascading in all directions. The fur on her shoulders bristled, and she tried to claw the water, only succeeding in falling in again.
Shaking her head, Dawndrell helped the kitten out again.

A scarlet sky and a warm breeze was all it took to inspire Sawyer to play his guitar. As he passed through the cool grass, losing the sun's heat, ignoring the path made for walking, his urged wanted him to come to a beautiful area to truly appreciate the mood. As he passed by the trees, the sky stained with lavender and and violet gave him a bigger smile. As he walked, he began to play. Desperate for changing Starving for truth I'm closer to where I started Chasing after you I'm falling even more in love with you Letting go of all I've held onto I'm standing here until you make me move I'm hanging by a moment here with you. "Hanging By A Moment" by the band Lifehouse was the first thing that came to his mind. But as he started to finish the verse, he came upon the actual path and there he say it: the setting sun through the water of the decorative fountain. It filled him with so much joy, that he inevitably couldn't contain himself. Jumping upon the rail of the fountain, he started to really get into it and have fun. Forgetting all I'm lacking Completely incomplete I'll take your invitation You take all of me now... I'm falling even more in love with you Letting go of all I've held onto I'm standing here until you make me move I'm hanging by a moment here with you I'm living for the only thing I know I'm running and not quite sure where to go And I don't know what I'm diving into Just hanging by a moment here with you But that was when he saw her, realizing he was not the only one there. But the moment was still in him. So what does any teen does when he sees a fellow peer of the opposite sex that has just seen a part of him so genuine that you would die from embarrassment? Well, most would do JUST that, but Sawyer was different. He sensed a sort of kindness from her and the damp kitten in her possession, if that didn't already sound intriguing enough. So he stops playing, jumps down and advances towards her. With a smile as warm as the sleepy sun, he eloquently said, Hello there, my name is Sawyer Alister. It's a pleasure to meet you, and to know I have company.

Dawndrell glanced at the newly come stranger. She blinked and cocked her head.
"Dude... You're not in LOVE with me, are you!??!" she asked, mixing confusion, laughter, and mockery in her voice.
François watched the two from her perch on the stone fountain next to Dawndrell's thigh. She watched the two with a scared, wide-eyed expression. Absently, she licked a soggy paw, never letting them leave her gaze. Her fur stuck to her body, making her look like a large rat.
Dawndrell turned her head so it was in its normal, upright position and chuckled at some private joke. "Gosh, like you'd ACTUALLY be in love with me? How GROSS!" She laughed for another moment and turned back to him.
"Umm... nice song, by the way..." she babbled. "Same for the guitar. How long have you been playing? I used to, myself, but not so much anymore..." Oh, shoot! I'm babbling again!

His lit up with enthusiasm. Really, you played guitar? That's great! I mean I've only been playing for about six years, and I only been recently been getting into all these foreign bands. But they're so much I still need to learn. I mean, I didn't know anyone else was here, but you do seem nice enough. Hey, how about you play something! With the assumption that everyone's as friendly and outgoing as he is, he hands her the guitar like a present. Music was something he was really passionate about, so meeting someone like meant a lot to him. I bet you know a lot of good songs as well. I'm not sure if you recognized the song I was singing, but the cords were really tricky in the beginning. Ohh, I'm sorry. What's your name? It was too bad he didn't get the hint that he didn't make the best impression in the world. But as always, he expected the best in people. But he just wasn't thinking, only feeling. Instead of wondering what kind of person she was, he was wondering what kind of songs she liked. Instead of wondering if he was bothering her or not, he was wondering how much better she might be and what he might learn from her. Already he built up the scenario of music at midnight. You know, if Anthy, his bet tortoise were here and could speak, she'd probably agree that the boy needs a reality check about the world. But then again, he has hope and faith in it, and that's what makes it worth living. So as this naive boy hands the young lady with the soaked cat the guitar, the night grows closer and all he thinks about it is that the stars will come out soon. Oh, to be young, innocent and naive.

(Haha, sorry, I don't know if you actually play guitar or not, so this might be a pain, 'cause I play.)
"Umm... my name is Dawndrell. Dawndrell Scotts."
She stared at the guitar in his hands and gulped. Golly. PLAY? For someone ELSE? She thought about it for a moment, then forced herself to take the offering. Well... it can't be THAT bad...
Dawndrell strummed a few strings to make sure the guitar was in tune. Oh, boy. I don't have a pick! Well, whatever, I guess... She started strumming chords with her fingernail. F sharp sustain 4,E, B minor, A sustain 4... Golly, I haven't played for a WHILE!
She started slow, carefully proceeding with every line. "I've got a lot of thoughts... I've got a lot of plans. I've lost a lot of sleep... tryin'a understand." She worked up her courage, slowly adapting to the feel of the friendly guitar. "I could dream all day, I could dream all day, I could dream all day-ay-ay-ay."
At last, the song ended, and Dawndrell brought the music to a steady stop. She looked up and blinked, disoriented by reality. She realized she had just preformed a song for a stranger... in the darkness of early night, no less. She blushed and returned the guitar to Sawyer.
"It's a pretty sick guitar," she babbled. "It should last for several more years, at least. Ya know, if you were to continue playing, I mean..." Shut up, shut up, shut up! GOSH, Dawnie! You're such a blabber-mouth!
She shut up and stared at the fingertips of her left hand, now with ridges carved into them from the strings. Hmm... maybe I should grow back my callouses...

(no worries. I do play guitar upon other things, but it's just in game, so no big deal. Like they say, there are drummers, guitarist, and musicians. *^_^*)
If there was a light in the area at all at this time of night, it would be coming from Sawyer's bright smile of awe. He was surrounded by and aura of happiness, I'd be surprised if you could even see him, it's so bright. That was really pretty. You're a gentle person, I can tell by the way you play. It suits you and the way you play. I wish that someday I could express myself that way... Entrenched by her music, took back the guitar. This is my dad's guitar. He said it would help me understand people. He then looked at her and gave her a smile; a small, private smile, just for her. I guess he was right in a way.
He then sat down on the ground in front of her, cradling the guitar. So who's your little friend there? he pointed to the cat.I have a tortoise. Her name's Anthy. She's nice, but doesn't fit in to most places. Not like this little guy. He seems wet. If you'd like, I could dry him off for you. I don't much like being cold and wet at the same time, neither. Setting the guitar, he laid down across the ground as the warm summer breezed ushered in the the night sky, stars and fountain lamps. The sky was lit with stars, or as he would say, "wishes", the moon crescent and beaming, without a cloud in the sky. Hmm, the breeze feels great... A sense of calm and tranquility then started to emanate from his body. He then looked to her to see how see was enjoying this gift of an evening. To him, she looked like she belonged there. It was very comforting. He truly was glad now that he wasn't here to enjoy it by himself, and that he got to see her like this.

Dawndrell basked in the boy's praise, rather pleased with herself, but a little embarrassed. Golly, this kid thinks I sound good! She flushed with pride, glad for the cloak of darkness.
If you'd like, I could dry him off for you. At the mention of François, Dawndrell turned to see the little orange shadow next to her, remembering her presence. She was still half-wet, slowly letting the water drip down her body. "Actually, my kitty is a she," Dawndrell corrected. "Her name is François." She blushed a little, feeling like a little kid. "You can dry her if you want, I guess," she mumbled. I wonder how he thinks he's going to do that...
Dawndrell leaned back and let some fountain spray hit her already-wet back, then noticed Sawyer and nearly lost her balance. He lay casually on the ground. Oh my gosh, his shirt's riding up! Sher quickly looked away, only to notice the fountain lights, glimmering bright colors through the dark sky. Golly, when did they turn on?: And why didn't I notice them?

Sawyer rolled over and crawled over to Dawndrell's lap and placed his hand in front of Francois. Here you are little one. You'll be dry in no time. He then gave a pleasant smile to her. If you want I can dry you off as well. The light gave off enough for him to see the damp clothing.
Closing his eyes got his mind in another place for him to concentrate. Concentrating on the heat needed to dry the fur. So from there, the energy forced from his will created a area of heat outside of his palm. Like a hand dryer without the burn or blowing air. The warmth was pleasant and inviting. As he dried Francois, he looked back at Dawndrell. You must know a lot about guitars. Being able to tell the condition of my guitar is very impression. What else are you interested in? He started to move his hand around the kitten to get to dry it faster. She's almost done he remarked, getting back to the task at hand.

Dawndrell watched him dry off her kitty and flushed."I'm good," she muttered. No WAY is some kid I just met gonna use his powers on me!
What else are you interested in?
Golly, what AM I interested in? She pondered it for a moment.
"I don't know," she finally replied. "I guess I like art class... and technology..." She looked up at the sky-- at the bright moon and stars. "I like this sky," Dawndrell said, with a smile, suddenly inspired.

Well now, not only are a musician, you're an artist and a romantic. I myself don't know too much about technology or am too good with it. I like exploring the island and finding nice places like this. But they're much nicer with company, music and food. But I guess that's just me. Nothing too special I guess. Finishing up, he softly patted the kitten on her head and stood to sit next to Dawndrell, but with just enough space in between them not to be awkward. Places like those and times like these are nice a warm the soul. They help me play by putting me at ease. I bet it does the same for you in a way. Hunching over, he leaned on his lap with his elbows on his knees, looking up into the night sky. And the best part is that there are so many nice places around here, I'm almost amazed that almost no one goes there. But I guess it might be better that way. You know, it might ruin it for everyone else if it got too popular and over crowded. His face became very somber from the thought of it, like it wasn't something to think about lightly. He finally gave out a sigh as he continued to stare into the deepness of space.

Dawndrell choked a bit. ROMANTIC!??! Where does this kid GET this stuff!??! She mentally shook herself out of it and listened to the boy speak. He gazed off into the stars.
Dawndrell didn't know what to do... She sat on the fountain edge in silence, also watching the sky, letting her mind wander.
This kid likes peace, huh? A loner, maybe? She tucked her knees up and rested her chin on them. I wonder what kind of life he comes from that would make him so... so OPTIMISTIC and FREE. She was about to ask when François crossed over and squirmed her way under Sawyer's arm onto his lap, where she curled up, apparently cozy. Merr-our?

Well hello there *^_^* he replied as his attention was broken from nothing. Seeing the kitten on his lap, he took it as a sign of acceptance on her part. So to show his gratitude, he gently caresses Francois's head with two fingers. She's seems quite friendly. This action seemed to amuse him very much, like he's never had done it before and just discover how nice the feel of fur was. By the way, how long have you been out here? It will be getting late soon, and even though the air is warm, it won't for long. I was thinking of going into town and looking for something to do, like play in the square or go karaoke. I'm gonna head off in a bit. If you'd like to come along, you can. he explained very naturally as his other hand reached for his guitar. He didn't waver in his voice or actions. His eyes were fixed on Francoise, and his gentle smile still a part of him like it he was made to be happy. That was an idea of mine. In a way, I guess I can't stay still. Even still, I have no intention of sitting i one place for long anyways. He finally took his eyes off the kitten and readjusted them to the Dawndrell; he didn't turn his face to her. He just looked over to her and gave her that same private smile from last time. After a moment, he lifted Francoise in his arms like a precious item and place her next to her owner. Standing up, he held his guitar over his shoulder and finally looked at her fully. So what do you say? Wanna join me, doing something else?

Dawndrell rubbed François' head absently, thinking. Well, I COULD go to bed right now... OR I could stay here for a bit, THEN go to bed... OR I could run away with this boy I barely know into a town I barley know at night...
Dawndrell grinned. "Sure, I'd love to come!"
ADVENTURE!!! ADVENTURE AT NIGHT WITH SOME KID! WHOO HOO!
François purred.
I'm going to follow this almost-stranger I met ten minutes ago into some town to do who-knows-what. Isn't this dangerous?
Dawndrell looked at the sky and pondered. Nah. She jumped up. "Come on!"
